How to play Sudoku Steps

Play 24 levels from 4×4 warm-ups to 6×6 expert boards, plus 12 classic 9×9 levels (25–36), unlocked from the start, and a 6×6 Daily board every day. Every board has a single solution and needs no guessing; on 9×9 boards, the given numbers drop from 38 to 27. To play 9×9, pick a box, tap a square in the magnifier below and press a number key; the keys show how many of each digit remain. You get notes mode, same-number highlighting and 2 hints. Make 3 mistakes and the level ends; finish without mistakes or hints for 3 stars.

Sudoku Steps has 36 levels: the first 4 are played on 4×4 boards, the next 20 on 6×6 boards. Levels 25–36 are classic 9×9 boards and are unlocked from the start.

Step by step

  1. Each digit appears only once in every row, every column and every bold-outlined box: 1–4 on 4×4, 1–6 on 6×6 and 1–9 on 9×9.
  2. Tap a cell and pick a digit below; on a keyboard, move with the arrow keys and press Space to jump to the number panel. On 9×9, the box you select is enlarged in the magnifier below.
  3. A wrong digit costs a life, and 3 mistakes end the level. You get 2 hints on every board; finish without mistakes or hints for 3 stars.
  4. In Notes mode, you write possible digits into a cell in small type; a digit placed correctly is removed from the notes in the same row, column and box.

Tips

  • The counter on the number keys shows how many of each digit are left; start with the digits that have few left.
  • If only one digit fits in a cell, or a digit has only one spot left in its row, column or box, write it in; every board is solved with these 2 ideas.
